Read below to hear from Sierra Goldstein. She shares some tips and tricks to stay healthy and beautiful during summer!
As spring comes to an end, summer flourishes with its beauty, sunshine, and radiance! With summer comes an abundance of energy, both in nature and ourselves. The air feels alive with life, the trees and flowers are in full bloom, and fresh fruits and vegetables are finding their way onto our plates. Although most summers are filled with fun and energy, I want this summer to be your best one yet. I want you to eat and nourish your body to protect it from UV rays. I want your skin to be so nourished that you don’t feel the need to wear make-up or hide behind anything.
One of the best ways to protect and nourish your skin in the summer is to eat foods that support UV protection and provide intense hydration for the body.
SUMMER BEAUTY FOODS
Apricots: Apricots contain a high amount of beta carotene, which the body converts into Vitamin A. This UV-protective vitamin nourishes the hair, skin, and nails. Apricots are also a great source of the beauty minerals iron and copper, as well as potassium for hydration balance. As a digestive aide, apricots aide in the process of breaking down and absorbing food, an important beauty process! They are great dried (without the use of a lot of sugar) or fresh! (photo)
Cantaloupe: This fruit combines two very important Vitamins, Vitamin A and C. These vitamins are known for preventing acne, wrinkles, sun damage, and dry skin. Cantaloupe also contains potassium, to keep nutrients circling, as well as B vitamins that balance sodium and potassium in the body. Additionally, B vitamins support healthy hair. (photo)
Celery: Celery acts as a natural diuretic, which cools, flushes, and detoxes your body of excess fluid. Celery contains silicon, which supports skin elasticity and hydration, as well as hair growth! (photo)
Cucumber: Like celery, cucumber contains silicon. This vegetable also contains potassium, and is an anti-inflammatory kidney-cleansing food that prevents water retention. A good source of VitaminK, chlorophyll, and Vitamin C, cucumbers are a beauty food to be reckoned with. (photo)
Watermelon: Each bite of watermelon contains around %92 H20! Talk about hydration! Watermelon also contains the antioxidant lycopene, which aides your body against UV damage (with the use of a natural sunscreen of course). This fruit is also a source of iron-which leads to the healthy growth of the hair, beautiful pink nail beds, and glowing skin. (photo)
Eating beauty foods is a great habit to add to your daily beauty routine. Check out an example of a smoothie you can create to add to your summer beauty habits!
- 1/2 cucumber
- 1 cup watermelon
- 1 stalk celery
- 3 small dried apricots
- 1 cup milk of your choice
- 1 cup ice
Blend together thoroughly and enjoy this amazingly hydrating and regenerating smoothie!
